Alhaji Bala Mohammed Borodo is an origin of Kano State. He was born in 1953 to a KANO Merchant Alhaji Mohammadu Borodo who sojourned in Bukuru Plateau State for many years. He is Married and blessed with children. Enjoys BADMINTON, WALKING, TRAVELLING AND READING among other hobbies. He had his early Junior and Senior Primary Education in Native Authority Schools in Bukuru and Gyel 1961 to 1967. He was a student of Saint Joseph's College Vom from 1968 to 1972 for his Secondary School Education. In January 1973 he got admitted into the School of Basic Studies ABU Zaria for his high levels and finished in June 1974. He later got admission into the Faculty of Environmental Design, Department of Building ABU Zaria in August, 1974 and graduated with a B.Sc. Building in June 1977. He was in Heriot University, Edingburh, Scotland - UK for his postgraduate studies and got a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Management 1981-1982. In 1999 he bagged an Advance Management Certificate AMC - Certificate from LAGOS Business School, Lagos. After the One year Compulsory N.Y.S.C. in 1978, Kano State Government employed him at the Water Resources and Engineering Construction Agency (WRECA) as an Engineer II. His carrier continued at various levels in the Organization and reached the Position of Chief Engineer in 1986.He was seconded to the Ministry of Education as a Chief Engineer, where he worked for six years and rose to become the Director of Works in 1992. He retired from the Civil Service and was employed by African Petroleum Plc (now Forte Oil) as a Commercial Property Manager, a position he held between 1992 and 1994 and became the Engineering Services Manager in 1995. He later was promoted to the exalted position of the Asst. General Manager REAL Estate of AP Plc till the year 2002. Alhaji Bala Mohammed Borodo is a Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Building FNIOB - 2004. A member of Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria CORBON - 1994. An Associate Member Nigerian Society of Engineers AMSE; 1987, Member Nigerian Institute of Directors MIOD; 2000. Participation in Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) include amongst other: CHAIRMAN KANO STATE POLICE COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE PCRC (from July 2013 - April 2018). Current Vice Chairman - KANO CONCERNED CITIZENS INITIATIVES - 2018 Current Vice Chairman - GandunAlbasa Forum Current Vice Chairman Elder of ZANGO ZAGE DORAYI - ZANZADO; 1990 On the Political Arena amongst others he was a special adviser to the Executive Governor of Kano State on Utility Services (Telecoms, Water & Electricity) from 2002 to 2003. Mr. President Federal Government of Nigeria appointed him a Director of Nigeria Iron Ore Mining Company LTD (NIAMCO) Itake, Kogi State in 2006. Alh. Bala M. Borodo was later appointed the Honourable Minister of Mines and Steel Development by the President in the Year 2007. He became a Federal Commissioner in Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission of FGN Abuja (RMAFC) Nov. 2010 to Nov 2015.
